Dieses Bild hängt im neu errichteten Museum der bildenden Künste Leipzig - wie die Pinakothek der Moderne in München leider noch unvollendet und insofern architektonisch ein Torso. Es fehlt ein den Kern umgebender Riegel, der die Schatztruhe des Museums einschließen soll.
Im Inneren fasziniert die Idee, Altes mit Neuem zu verbinden. Neo Rauch hängt bspw. im Mittelraum der 3. Etage, drumherum alte Niederländer und Italiener. Eine sympathische Idee und irgendwie typisch für Leipzig.
Sehr starker Eindruck die Klinger-Sammlung inklusive des Beethoven-Monuments und vor allem "Opfer des Faschismus" von Hans Grundig! 2 Tote liegen in Häftlingskleidung im Vordergrund, hinten Zäune und Türme etc. Die Leichen aber von goldener Patina umgeben wie auf einer alten Ikone. Ein ganz starkes Bild.
